What is MOTS-c?
Also known as Mitochondrial ORF of the 12S rRNA-c
Research use only. The summary below reflects reports in research literature. It is not medical advice or instructions for human use. MOTS-c is sold strictly for research and analytical purposes.
What is MOTS-c?
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide. It activates the AMPK energy-sensing pathway, mimicking the metabolic signal of exercise. It is supplied for research as a pre-filled, pre-reconstituted multi-dose pen.
It is studied in metabolic and longevity research for mitochondrial function, insulin sensitivity and exercise-mimetic effects. The evidence base through 2026 is predominantly cell and animal work; research outcomes vary.
Reported side effects
- A post-dose energy crash 3–4 hours after use is the characteristic sign of dosing too high too soon — it eases when the dose is held until the body adapts.
- Fatigue or lethargy at a step the researcher has not yet acclimated to.
- Mild, transient injection-site reactions.
How to dose MOTS-c
Titrated from the lowest setting upward: start at 0.2 mg for two weeks, then step up 0.2 mg at a time (0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1 mg) no faster than every two weeks and only when the current dose is well tolerated. Commonly taken ~30 minutes before training. The pen dials each step; no mixing.
